The Bauer Proto2 delivers impressive performance and feel that boosts player confidence and stick handling, with a notably light construction and attractive design. However, multiple reviewers report shaft breakage within weeks to months of use, which is a significant durability concern for a $400+ stick. Several customers experienced failures even within warranty periods, leading to frustration with replacement processes.

- + Boosts confidence
- + Very light
- + Great feel
- + Light construction
Cons

Very whippy but not durable
My kid (2010) loved it, and then it broke about two months later, on the shaft.

Great stick but it’s made of porcelain
The stick itself feels great I just wish it lasted longer than two weeks

Makes a performance difference
Never realized the difference a better quality stick makes. Thanks for this one!

2 Breaks in less than 30 days
I expected top-tier performance from the Bauer Proto2 Composite Hockey Stick, especially at a price pushing $400. What I didn’t expect was to see two of them break in less than a month. I purchased the stick (White – Senior) from Pure Hockey on October 28. The first one snapped on November 9—well within the 30-day warranty period—so we went through the normal process and received a replacement on November 11. Unfortunately, the replacement didn’t fare any better. It broke today, November 26. Two failures in under 30 days is not what anyone anticipates from a high-end composite stick. My son treats his equipment well and plays hard, but nothing unreasonable. For this price point, durability shouldn’t be the weak spot. I understand Bauer typically offers only one replacement per purchase, but the fact that both sticks failed this quickly raises real concerns about quality control. I’m hoping Bauer or Pure Hockey will stand behind their product, because at this rate, the stick isn’t lasting as long as our Thanksgiving leftovers. Great feel, great performance—right up until it suddenly isn’t. Proceed with caution.

SUPER UNHAPPY... LAST PURCHASE WITH PURE HOCKEY
SUPER UNHAPPY with Pure Hockey.... last time I'm buying anything with Pure Hockey, I'll spend more money and go to Mom & Pop stores instead. We ordered this stick online... it broke within the 30 day warranty time frame. I reached out to Bauer, as I have in the past regarding broken sticks and filled out the broken stick warranty info. Provided them the receipt, pictures, serial numbers ect... After 4 days Bauer wrote back to me stating that since I ordered it through Pure Hockey I have to go through Pure Hockey... so no big deal I thought. Brought all the info into a Pure Hockey store and was told it didn't fall within the 30days because I reached out to Bauer first and wasted 4 days waiting for a response from Bauer. I showed the manager the dates proving the stick was broken within 30 days and how I reached out to Bauer within the 30days (showed emails), but they said sorry... it had to be brought into the store within the 30 days and there is nothing they could do. I left the store with a broken stick in my hand and a 13 year old that was heartbroken as he saved his own money for this stick to just be denied even with proof. Worst customer service ever. The amount of money I spend with Pure Hockey and this is how you treat a customer that buys a $400 stick. Ridiculous.
